"I’ve been a member of the audience for Ice Theatre of New York going back to the early 1990s…So, when I say that this year’s gala offered an ideal calling card for ITNY in terms of genres of skating, range of virtuosity, variety of choreographic approaches, and balance between outgoing performance quality and classic reserve, I’m assessing the evening against some spectacular predecessors….ITNY has always emphasized the importance of ice dance choreography, working with dancemakers from the ballet (Twyla Tharp, Peter Martins, Edward Villella), modern dance (Lar Lubovitch, Jacqulyn Buglisi), and performance art (Ann Carlson). The spirit of John Curry, which prompted the company’s founding, continues!"
